In industry, primary energy is supplied in the form of electricity and fossil fuels.
Production processes requiring thermal energy are common across various industrial sectors. A significant proportion of this thermal energy is converted into waste heat and is released via chimneys, cooling towers and exhaust systems.
Process heat requirements are incremental to the usual heating and cooling needs of residential and industrial premises. TEON high-temperature heat pumps represent a strategic investment because, in addition to being an advanced thermal electrification technology compared to traditional air-conditioning technologies, they can recover waste heat and reintroduce it into production processes, simultaneously producing both thermal and cooling energy for extended periods of the year, as required by numerous production processes such as: pasteurisation, sterilisation, product cooking and washing processes, drying and dehydration, distillation, heat treatments, forming and moulding, cleaning and sanitising of workbenches, container washing and degreasing of parts.

A T70DC model Teon double-stage pump was installed at a producer of mozzarella, ricotta and milk derivatives to meet the simultaneous need for hot water for pasteurization (+86°C) and cold water (-2°C). The heat pump replaced a steam boiler of approximately 1.0MWt with production at 120°C at low pressure and a chiller. The excess thermal energy is recovered and sent to the building's winter heating system.

In the production site of one of the largest Italian cured meat producers, two TEON model T250 W machines have been installed in the ham processing process. Heat pumps provide hot water at 80-82°C used for cooking cooked ham as a replacement for the steam boiler. At the same time, water cooled to around 29 °C is supplied to the refrigeration plant. The simultaneous use of thermal and cooling energy satisfied by TEON heat pumps has increased the energy and economic benefit of the investment made, shortening the payback times.

A TEON model RT115 W heat pump has been installed in the production site of a distributor of food and frozen products in the province of Alessandria. The machine recovers the heat produced by a cold storage system for frozen food products by providing hot water between 30 and 80°C for heating the offices and warehouses of the plant during the winter season, with return of cold water at 18°C to the condensers of the storage system.

At the site of a laminate mold manufacturer, two high-temperature TEON heat pumps model T350 W were installed to heat to approx. 60°C the galvanic baths and keep them at temperature, also providing them with cooling during the electrolytic cycles, and to heat the exchange air (approx. 40,000 m3/h) of the AHUs necessary to purify the rooms that house them from the miasma of mercury vapour.

Manufacturing
sector

A double-stage TEON model T350MB-DC machine is installed in the production plant of a metalworking company, which carries out chrome plating on various products for the mechanical and automotive industry. The heat pump is used to maintain the temperature in the chrome plating tanks of the galvanic bath at around 71°C throughout the year and to simultaneously produce hot water at 60°C for heating the production areas and offices in the winter season. Thanks to the coverage of electricity needs provided by a photovoltaic and a hydroelectric system, energy costs have been essentially eliminated, as have polluting emissions into the atmosphere

Mechanical
sector

Two TEON model T250 W machines have been installed in the industrial site of an auto component manufacturer in Piedmont. The heat pumps supply cooled water (between 10°C and 30°C) to a compressed air unit and, at the same time, hot water (at temperatures raised up to 86°C) delivered to the plant's hot water distribution ring. The simultaneous production of cooling energy and thermal energy occurs 24 hours a day throughout the year, thus maximizing the use of the heat pump and the savings generated.

sector

At the production site of a supplier of plastic fabrics for car covers in the province of Lodi, a TEON model RT250 heat pump was installed, customized to alternatively use two natural sources (dual source): air and water. The heat pump produces hot water (at 65°C) for heating and DHW by recovering process waste during the winter period. Throughout the year the same machine produces cooled water (at 18°C) to serve the plastic tarpaulin molding department.

A TEON model T 350 G heat pump powered by 30 geothermal probes has been installed at a primary livestock farm located in Soncino in the province of Cremona, serving a new biomethane production plant with a capacity of 250 smc/h connected to the local network of the municipality of Soncino. The biomethane production plant, whose digester is kept at temperature by the heat pump throughout the year (replacing a cogenerator), is built on an area of approximately 19,000 m2, powered by livestock waste and produces approximately 2,000,000 smc of biofuel per year.
