Selected projects carried out
In the new TEON factory in Collegno (Turin), a completely renovated complex of industrial architecture dating back to the 1960s, we have installed three RT250 W model reversible machines with a total power of 750 kW, for the production of heating, domestic hot water and summer cooling. The machines offer thermal energy to the production area at a temperature of 80-85°C distributed through thermo-strips, to the healthcare services with radiator terminals and to the office building, equipped with fan coils. The heat pumps are installed in a groundwater geothermal system, which replaced the pre-existing condensing thermal power plant, completely eliminating the carbon footprint of the entire plant.

The intervention consisted of replacing existing oil boilers (3000 kWt) and chillers (1500 kWf) at the thermal power plant of an office complex with 1 x 250 kWt heat pump + 2 x 500 kWt double-stage heat pump, for a total of 1,250 kWt and 1,050 kWf. As part of the project, 2 wells were built for the extraction of first aquifer water and 3 re-injection wells to serve a maximum total flow rate of 180 cubic meters/h. The centralized air/water heating and cooling system, consisting of 2 air handling units plus fan coils and radiators, remained unchanged. TEON heat pumps produce heat and cooling simultaneously for most of the year. The presence of radiators, the large hydraulic circuit and the presence of an intermediate exchanger between production and distribution made it necessary to produce hot water at temperatures not lower than 70 °C, while the chilled water is delivered at 7 °C

In a traffic police barracks in the province of Cuneo, two TEON heat pumps models RT115 A and RT115 G were installed. The machines produce hot water at 65°C for the heating system and cold water in the summer season for air conditioning at 7°C. The system was built using the three natural sources for the heat pumps: air, through a dry-cooler, soil, through the creation of vertical geothermal probes and groundwater, collected through a pumping well. The system's operating logic optimizes thermal energy production on a seasonal and annual basis, based on climatic conditions.

In a school complex of over 1,000 students in Pordenone, including four institutes, a double-stage heat pump model T115-DC W was installed to integrate a thermal power plant with dispatch priority, replacing a methane boiler. It offers heating in the winter season (classrooms and gym) and DHW (bathrooms) throughout the year by powering a radiator system. The choice of the TEON heat pump arose from the need to offer high temperatures (80°C), a key element in mixed contexts such as schools, exposed to legionella risk, and from the objective of eliminating students' exposure to the emission of harmful pollutants on site. The result was the elimination of approx. 18 tons/year of CO2 and 50% reduction in operating costs.

The TEON double-stage heat pump model T250-DC W at the aqueduct managed by a primary utility in northern Italy involves the use of water drawn through a collector from the primary circuit of the aqueduct and a complete return using overpressure pumps at a temperature lower than 3 °C. This is an installation serving two coupled buildings, a workshop and warehouse, whose volume is approximately 4,000 cubic metres. Previously these spaces were heated with a methane boiler. Thermal energy in winter is supplied at temperatures varying between 70°C and 80°C. The indoor terminals consist of fan coils in the office areas and radiators in the changing rooms, bathrooms, showers and common areas and in the warehouse areas.

Installed in the five-storey building of the ICGEB (International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology), the T115-DC W TEON double-stage heat pump simultaneously produces chilled water and thermal energy. While the chilled water is sold to the distribution system made up of convectors, the thermal energy at 85°C is delivered to a lithium bromide absorber which recovers the thermal waste, producing, in turn, additional free cooling energy with almost zero electricity consumption. The heat pump works in summer using return water, both from the air conditioning distribution systems at 12 °C and from the absorber at 85 °C. Furthermore, the heat pump was put at the service of laboratories, conference rooms, offices, bathrooms, common rooms, warehouse, for a covered area of approximately 5000 m2.

In the historic site), a RT350-DC W TEON double-stage heat pump was installed in combination with a 130 kWe cogenerator. As part of the project, wells for the extraction and return of first aquifer water were built, for a flow rate of 48 m3/h. The new layout of the plant - which replaces the methane-fueled condensing boilers - is designed to supply part of the electrical utilities and to generate heating, cooling and domestic hot water (DHW) for the main building, two restaurants, the gym, wellness centre, changing rooms, swimming pool, tennis courts (one of which is covered). Considering the promiscuity of the environments to be heated, the thermal energy is delivered at 80°C. The cogenerator is electrically controlled by the TEON heat pump, with surplus electricity used to serve other utilities in the Centre, thus reducing withdrawal from the grid.

In a historic rice mill in Tronzano Vercellese, which has been cultivating, packaging and distributing rice all over the world since 1906, with particular attention to respect for the environment, two TEON heat pumps have been installed, with a total thermal power of 60 kW and cooling power of 40 kW for the production of heating, DHW and summer cooling. The heat pump serves the production, the office building, the workers' and employees' canteen, the changing rooms, the bathrooms and the warehouse. The two TEON heat pumps power a mixed system, made up of fan coils, AHUs and radiators in the changing rooms, bathrooms, showers and common areas. Over 75% of primary energy comes from heat exchange with groundwater via a hydrothermal well and a re-injection well; the remaining 25% is made up of electricity. Local climate-changing emissions have therefore been completely eliminated.

In a hypermarket in Buccinasco belonging to an important Italian chain, two customized heat pumps of 250 kWt each have been installed which allow the recovery of the heat waste at 35°C developed by food counters and cold rooms and the production of hot water for heating and DHW at 80°C. This solution allows us to avoid disposing of the heat produced by these refrigerators into the air and to replace the boilers and consequently reduce its CO2 emissions. This solution uses innovative technology that allows you to save on your bill and reduce primary energy and harmful emissions into the atmosphere. This solution can be replicated in all those commercial contexts with similar conditions (e.g. availability of thermal waste and need for hot water to be used for space heating and for the production of domestic hot water (DHW).
